Why would a control module burn out in 15 min?

February 28th, 2010 | by admin |

I have a 1987 S10 pu with a 4.3ltr v6. It has HEI dist with coil in cap. When it runs it backfires and runs ruff at 1500 rpms or higher. At an idle it runs smooth. I have replaced cap, rotor, wire from cap to module and coil. It has no vacuum leaks.
I changed module and it started. still has same problem.

Why do you think the module is bad? I noticed that you didn’t say anything about changing spark plugs. You obviously have some car smarts, with some more info i might be able to help.
