Frontpage – Limited Access – almost there!?

Used .htaccess and .htpasswd files. Have them both in the directory I want to protect (notepad files). Uploaded both to server, and the username and password dialogue box displays. But when I type in the password (case sensitive, was very careful, several times)…it just gives me three chances and then throws me out. I have gone back to the encrypter 3 times with 3 different ids, but no success…any ideas?
